Player’s Handbook
In Dungeons and Dragons, the Player’s Handbook includes all the essential information you need to start playing the game.
This seasonal newsletter will aim to get you all the details you need to start playing with your dog!
Winter Webinars
It can be tough to keep up with training over the colder weather! Heading into the chillier weather, Like Magic is offering Winter Webinars - topics and training to keep you and your pup learning from the cozy comfort of your living room.
Coaching Services
Keep an eye out for coaching services being launched in the new year! While the details are still being ironed out, continuing to provide training support to my clients is something I’m always trying to evolve and improve. Whether you’re brushing up on manners, building play skills and arousal regulation with your adolescent, or working through behavioral challenges, this virtual service will include weekly updates and homework to keep you on track with your goals and provide consistent support without the wait for a private session!
Coaching Services will launch alongside the revamped website over the next few weeks and into early 2025!
Revamped Website and Services
In addition to a little bit of a makeover, you may notice the website changing shape over the next few months. Rather than aligning each page with specific services, which has often led to confusion over what service would be best for specific challenges or training goals, pages will be dedicated to your training goals and the services and curriculum lined up to meet them.
While all services remain customizable and tailored to your specific goals and needs, I’ll be adjusting these programs somewhat to streamline them and make sure that you’re receiving the most value for your investment in your goals. With every behavior goal you’ll still have the option of board and train, private lessons, online courses, or my personal favorite: a hybrid combination of the three - but the page you visit will give you more details relevant to your challenges and experiences.
Past client? If you belong to Guild Hall (and if you don’t, you should, it’s free!) you’ll notice pages and resources being built out there as well dedicated to each of these behavior goals.
Group Classes for Spring
Group Classes are getting scheduled for Spring!
I’m in the process of partnering with two different organizations and facilities to help run my classes in the new year.
The first, Animal Welfare Society of Howard County, is just getting on it’s independent feet after new ownership took over the dilapidated property a few years ago. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching puppy classes there in partnership with Canine Humane Network, but now that AWSHC has it’s own board of directors, I’m once again partnering with the rescue to provide training for their adoptees and classes on and off site. The classes you can expect to see include:
Charisma Save: With a private property, I’m comfortable hosting group classes to introduce reactivity concepts lay the foundation for practice with reactive dogs in the real world. I expect Charisma Save classes to start up March 11!
Charisma Check: My current reactivity class is available only to graduates of private sessions, board and train, and my online course - but also, Charisma Save graduates! This coaching class will take reactivity on the road, and with the partnership of AWSHC, I anticipate being able to take things out and about with more variety and locations! Charisma Check will be back on April 15.
Worldbuilding: Puppy class is back and in full swing! This class for puppies 20 weeks and younger will focus on socialization and skill building, as well as pairing with the online class of the same name to introduce developmental topics for clients and their new additions. This class will be starting up the same week as Charisma Save on AWSHC property on March 13.
Cheat Codes: While this class has run slightly differently over the past years, this iteration of the course will focus on adolescents and newly adopted dogs over 20 weeks old and will serve as the next step up, focusing on skill building and arousal regulation, starting on April 17.
The second, further down the line, will be a long time coming to partner with my good friend and colleague E Foley when she has her facility up and running. I’m planning to offer whatever classes she wants me to run there, but will likely be looking to offer some similar reactivity and skill building classes there!
I’m also excited for some of the additional “one shot” classes I have planned for the new year. Keep an eye out in the Spring newsletter for more on those!
