While the basic curriculum looks similar to “Life Skills”, the primary difference for adolescence is focusing on smaller behaviors with broader application. Perfect for the pup with lots of potential but not many manners yet, and without any behavioral concerns. Two weeks is a good amount of time for me to get to know your dog well, and provide basic foundational skills surrounding:

Polite Greeting Behavior
Settling and Relaxation
In our three handoff sessions, we will focus on continuing to build those introduced behaviors and tailoring them to the training you’ll continue at home, establishing reasonable expectations and sustainable management techniques in order to preserve their skills and prevent undesirable behavior as they move through the terrible teens!

In adolescence, your puppy’s body is fully grown (or nearly there) but their mind is still playing catch up. Much of a three week stay will focus on building and polishing skills in basic manners and engagement, particularly surrounding self-regulation and settling in a variety of outlets. Building the skills and behavior needed for an adolescent to keep their brain on them at all times takes some time and attention. The four week board and train package for adolescents builds off of the behaviors introduced in the three week package, including:

Toy Skills and Manners
And specifically adds the basics for formal recall practice. While tools introduced for this crucial, life saving skill are introduced in earlier weeks, focusing on this behavior is essential for dogs who tend to play keepaway or chase with their owners, or dogs that ideally will grow into off leash reliable walking companions.

In our three handoff sessions, we will focus on continuing to build those introduced behaviors and tailoring them to the training you’ll continue at home, establishing reasonable expectations and sustainable management techniques in order to preserve their skills and prevent undesirable behavior as they move through the terrible teens! We will also formalize your CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certificate to add some letters onto your dog’s name!
For adolescents, 4 weeks is the most commonly recommended board and train package.

Looking for Group: Group Classes for Adolescent Manners
Group classes and events are held throughout the year in a variety of mediums.
In the Winter, you’ll find me on your computer screen in the comfort of your own home, where Winter Webinars are offered on a variety of subjects to kickstart your dog’s training and keep you and your best friend active during the colder weather.
In Spring, classes will be starting up in partnership with various facilities in the area, as well as offered independently: for basic manners, puppy development, adolescent impulse control, and dog reactivity.
You’ll also find drop-in enrichment games and classes listed below to build your dog’s confidence, burn their energy, and learn new games to play, offered throughout the year.
